Human Services Open House Friday 3-13-2026

Potter County Human Services has relocated to the third floor of the F.W. Gunzburger County Office Building in downtown Coudersport. An open house will be held there from 3-5 pm on Friday, March 13. Attendees can meet the staff, learn about programs offered by the county and enjoy refreshments.

For nearly 40 years, PCHS has been caring for some of the county’s most vulnerable citizens, overcoming challenges that have raged from devastating fire to funding limitations. Relocation to the county seat has been seamless, according to PCHS Administrator Thomas Patterson.

PCHS provide a coordinated support system for thousands of county residents, ranging from infants to the elderly. Primary focus is on those with disabilities or mental health needs, as well as those in crisis.

The agency, created in 1987, operates under state regulations and county policies. It is funded through a partnership between the state and the Potter County Board of Commissioners.

Services include case management, support for seniors, children’s protection and advocacy, drug and alcohol treatment, housing assistance, transportation, emergency food provision and others.

Prior to the move to the third floor of the Gunzburger Building, PCHS was headquartered in the former L.L. Smith School in Roulette. Original headquarters was the Maple View Health Center on Coudersport’s eastern border, which was destroyed by fine on May 2, 1992.

The Gunzburger Building is more centralized location at the same time it consolidates many county services and personnel under one roof.

Address is 1 North Main Street. Access is through the Main Street entrance or an elevator accessible off from First Street. Telephone number is 800-800-2560. Operating hours are 8:30 to 4 on weekdays, while after-hour or emergency coverage is available by dialing 911.
