Online Payment Fee Increase Notice
Effective April 1, 2024, the prior $2.75 flat fee per online transaction is changing to a 2.75% fee based on the total cost of each online transaction. This change will apply to all online payments made via the PAePay ecommerce platform. This would include payments related to fines, costs, restitution, bail, Annual Attorney Registration and Bar Applications, PACFile, state probation and parole fees, and the Guardianship Tracking System. The purpose of the convenience fee is to allow AOPC to recoup the banking and credit card fees and associated costs that are incurred with these online transactions. While the amount of the convenience fee has remained at $2.75 for 14 years, the same is not true for the various banking and credit card fees charged to AOPC. As a result, AOPC’s cost to support online payments for most of the PAePay eligible products now exceeds the total convenience fee revenues collected, which depletes the AOPC/IT budget. Both parties must complete the entire application prior to issuance of the marriage license (Please note: The date of your most recent divorce or date of death of your former spouse is required). You must also provide a good phone number. Once the application is completed, you may drop it off at the Prothonotary/Clerk of Court’s Office or mail it to our office at 1 East Second Street, Room 23, Coudersport, PA 16915, along with a copy of both parties photo identification Please note photo identification must be legible.
Please note, both parties must appear in person and pay $50.00 cash for the issuance of the marriage license. There is a 3-day waiting period so make sure you include the date of your ceremony on the application so that we can be sure the dates line up appropriately.
