A longtime employee of the Potter County Jail has been appointed to fill the warden position.

Following a recommendation from the county’s Jail Board, the Potter County Commissioners appointed Hurler as warden, effective May 1.

Hurler began his career as a corrections officer and served in that role for many years before being promoted to deputy warden in 2021. In that position, he worked under Warden Angela Milford until her retirement in August 2025. After Milford’s departure, Sheriff Kevin Siska was named interim warden while Hurler completed several jail administration training programs.

Prior to 2021, the Potter County Sheriff also served as jail warden. That structure changed with the creation of the Jail Board, which led to Milford -- then deputy warden -- being promoted to the position of warden.
