Online Payment Fee Increase Notice
Effective April 1, 2024, the prior $2.75 flat fee per online transaction is changing to a 2.75% fee based on the total cost of each online transaction. This change will apply to all online payments made via the PAePay ecommerce platform. This would include payments related to fines, costs, restitution, bail, Annual Attorney Registration and Bar Applications, PACFile, state probation and parole fees, and the Guardianship Tracking System. The purpose of the convenience fee is to allow AOPC to recoup the banking and credit card fees and associated costs that are incurred with these online transactions. While the amount of the convenience fee has remained at $2.75 for 14 years, the same is not true for the various banking and credit card fees charged to AOPC. As a result, AOPC’s cost to support online payments for most of the PAePay eligible products now exceeds the total convenience fee revenues collected, which depletes the AOPC/IT budget. To alert the user community, AOPC will post an announcement on the UJS Web Portal.
